My artwork challenges political, cultural and societal issues within the African American community. Specifically, with each piece, I seek to unravel the negative stereotypes of Black women that are thrown at us on a daily basis. I also address our feminine and vulnerable personas often ignored by society. The overall work I create is spread into multiple collections, each with its own theme, while using eye-catching and vibrant colors. My work is not only meant to cause the viewer to stop and engage in conversations, but to also question the social barriers and cultural limitations within our society. Although I struggle with everyday self-expression, I was given a God given gift through my art. I choose to share this with the world. I paint in exchange for freedom; freedom that I hope to share with others through the creation of my work.
